| Montague – Montague, Michigan is located in the north side of beautiful White Lake in northern Muskegon County. This picturesque city is situated on a hill overlooking the marina, White River Channel, and its sister city, Whitehall, just across the lake. Montague’s economy is supported by a combination of factors, including tourism, some local manufacturing and its location as a commuter city to Muskegon.
Settlement in the area began in 1855 when Nat Sargent built the first house there. The town was officially incorporated into a village in 1883, and named after William Montague Ferry, one of the town fathers. It was later incorporated into a city in 1935. |
